DG Cranking System “refers to the system responsible for starting and stopping a diesel generator (DG) using a burst current, often provided by a supercapacitor - module instead of a traditional battery “.
Supercapacitor - based DG Cranking device is envisaged to perform similar function as a conventional lead acid battery for DG sets. i.e. it shall be able to crank the DG for starting the engine and supply power its AMF panel. It shall consist of a set of supercapacitors connected in series /parallel to provide required voltage and current, DC-DC converters for charging of capacitors and providing power to AMF panel, interconnected wiring, terminals and protections.
